Supporting Your Child on Their Journey to Independence

At the German School Shanghai Kindergarten, our dedicated and professionally trained team supports around 160 children aged 18 months and above across two locations in Shanghai. Every day, we draw on our expertise in early childhood education to guide each child’s individual development with care and commitment. Our team includes the kindergarten director, who oversees the educational approach and day-to-day organisation, German-speaking early childhood educators, Chinese-speaking assistants, language support specialists and special education professionals. We also work with external specialists to offer additional services such as speech and occupational therapy. Would you like to find out more about our team and our work? Learning Languages from an Early Age

At our Kindergarten, learning German is a key priority. It provides the foundation for active participation in everyday life and prepares children for primary school. For children who need additional language support, we offer a structured, holistic programme tailored to their individual needs. From the regular groups onwards, children are also introduced to English and Chinese through play. Discover our Kindergarten language programme.
